Did you know...?

How does a face mask work?

26 January 2017

You’ve probably applied a mask in the past. For several years they have been one of the most popular solutions for quick treatments, especially for the face and neck. But, have you ever stopped to think about how they work?

A face mask is a layer of cosmetic or natural products that are either applied to the entire face or to part of it. Their main function is to introduce active ingredients into the skin by saturation. That is, they form a layer or film on the skin, covering it so that the underlying cosmetics, the components of the mask itself, can penetrate the skin.

We can find them in different types and forms: powder, paste, gel, mud, cold plastic and peel-off (which dry within minutes of application and are removed in one piece). They also vary greatly in their functions, having tightening, hygienic, moisturizing, stimulant, cellular renewal, or purifying effects, among others. And on the market, you can find masks for every problem.

Before application, the face must be cleansed thoroughly, and the majority of them can be used twice a week. The best time to apply a face mask is at night, since this is when the skin regenerates and when the mask will have the greatest effect on the skin.

mesoestetic has some product suggestions if you are thinking of using a mask: the ultimate W+ integrity mask, which has a dual bleaching and moisturizing action thanks to its exclusive serum, as well as the anti-stress face mask, the hydra-vital face mask and the purifying face mask, which soothe, repair and purify the skin. For advice on the best treatment for your skin, consult a professional aesthetician.
